Ademoglu named 'Best in Class' by the Wall Street Journal Wednesday, September 28, 2005

NEW YORK – Northwest Nazarene University student-athlete Mesut Ademoglu has been honored by the Wall Street Journal with a ‘Best in Class’ Student Achievement Award for 2005. The Wall Street Journal award is presented to the business administration major that exhibits the most potential, and was nominated by the NNU business department faculty for this award. “Mesut is always an active contributor to the class discussions and we nominated him for his entrepreneurial spirit,” commented Dr. David Houghton, chair of the business department at NNU.

Ademoglu, a senior from Istanbul, Turkey, carries a 3.51 GPA while majoring in business administration at NNU. In addition to his academic pursuits, Mesut plays basketball for the Crusaders and was a Great Northwest Athletic Conference First-Team All-Conference selection in 2005.

“I heartily agree with the selection of Mesut for this award,” commented Dick Van Schyndel, professor of business at NNU and the 1968 winner of the ‘Best in Class’ award while at Northwest Nazarene College. Van Schyndel was also a member of the basketball team while a student at NNC.

Also named to the GNAC Academic All-Conference team in 2005, Ademoglu led the Crusaders in scoring (15.9) and rebounding (8.7), posting nine double-double performances during the course of the 2004-05 season, earning two GNAC Player-of-the-Week honors. He finished the season as the 10th ranked scorer in the conference and the 4th ranked rebounder. In the 2005 ETS Major Field Test for Business, produced nationally by the Educational Testing Service, the NNU business department seniors scored in the 95th percentile of 80,000 students tested at 469 institutions.
